SOUND ARCHITECT
Electronic/Pneumatic Valves - Retains OEM (in-car) functionality
Our active valve sport exhaust systems contain two separate gas paths, and an electronic or pneumatic flap-valve that decides which path is taken. Both have two distinct levels of sound and are slightly louder than stock. With the valves closed, the system takes on a more civilised note and when they’re open, you’re given a sporty note throughout the rev range.
These valves are integrated into the car’s existing controls and function depending on the ECU mapping. This can then be further manipulated either with the dedicated exhaust button or by switching the driving modes
DETAILS
We have our own 991 GT3 demo car and have tried all types of exhaust.
We found that the original manifolds & catalysts are very hard to improve on - unless you wish to remove the catalysts altogether, which would have further issues.
The rear silencer is the easiest to change but the OE design is also pretty hard to beat. It is light and has an impressive internal design that allows two paths, loud & quiet. This component also includes a built-in balance to promote the shriek at 9000 rpm.
QuickSilver used to list a pipe assembly to replace the rear silencer but have now deleted it.
We liaise with Porsche Motorsport in the UK and learned that, in Europe, the various Carrera Cup cars all run the OE rear silencer - it works extremely well, it is light enough (until last year they were using the Titanium version from the RS but this year have reverted to the stainless version as the weight saving was only a couple of pounds), it forms part of the rear crash-zone (regularly used on race cars) and is easy & relatively cheap to replace
KEY FEATURES
In our testing, we found that the best result came from replacing the OE side mufflers with a tube assembly that incorporates original-type valves - The benefits are:
• Valves continue to operate via the cabin button
• Significant weight saving - over 30 lbs
• Plug & Play - These require no other modifications.
• This emphasises and amplifies the great original sound, and all it's elements.
With this option and the valves open, the exhaust is basically straight-pipe. Sounds fabulous.... Aggressive and sharp with all the crackles and you can turn it down when required
*Please Note - Quicksilver Items are imported from the UK - Addtioanl local duties/taxes in your area may be required by the shipping company at time of delivery.
Origins & Experience - Since 1973
QuickSilver was founded in 1973, originally in Esher, Surrey. At this time the average life expectancy of an original equipment exhaust system was only 18 months > There was a demand for something better!
QuickSilver settled down in Battersea, central London from 1985 to 2003.
In 2004 QuickSilver's marketing and distribution moved to new purpose -built premises in Wormley, Surrey, to focus on the creation of a modern QuickSilver range of systems for the world's finest cars.
Systems - Manufactured in Great Britain - Exhausts are Custom Order and can take 4-6 weeks for production. Please contact GMP for details.
QuickSilver's range breaks down into three main categories;
Sports: The most popular range of systems catering for modern cars enhancing their sound and overall performance. QuickSilver offer a choice of sound for many vehicle models to allow the enthusiast driver to personalise the experience.
Heritage Collection: A 3000 plus catalogue of systems dating back to 1902, supplying Stainless Steel systems that match the original. For over 35 years QuickSilver have produced and stocked systems for the likes of MGB, Jaguar XK120, Alfa Giulia, Aston Martin, Ferrari – all the popular Classics and this is still a very important part of QuickSilvers's business.
Titan Collection: A bespoke service where QuickSilver strive to engineer the ultimate Exhaust systems. The exhausts included within the 'Titan Collection' are systems that have all the advantages of the 'Sports' range but QuickSilver have examined ways to reduce weight to a minimum by using alternative materials such as thin gauge stainless steel (.9mm), Titanium or Inconel in .7 or .9mm thickness. Some systems combine these materials to achieve the correct balance of strength, lightness and durability.
Global Identity
QuickSilver distribute through a worldwide network of dealers who enjoy a wealth of marketing material and joint promotion via shared advertising and QuickSilver's participation in local events. This is backed by QuickSilver's sponsorship of individual competitors from national rallying to international endurance racing.
Credentials
ISO 9001 Quality Certification: In June 2006 QuickSilver Exhaust Systems achieved ISO 9001 Accreditation following a rigorous assessment by the independent auditors, CQS and re-audited to the higher standard in August 2010.
This prestigious honour is the Global Benchmark for quality and excellence. Only around 3% of UK businesses hold this Accreditation which is regarded by the major car manufacturers as an essential reassurance that the holder's quality control, traceability and procedures match their own.
The award recognises and demonstrates QuickSilver's commitment to an exceptional level of service, production and delivery.
MIA (Motorsport Industry Association): QuickSilver is a member of the Motorsport Industry Association. The (MIA) is the world's leading trade association for the motorsport.
SEMA Membership: QuickSilver is a proud member of the Speciality Equipment Market Association (SEMA) based in Diamond Bar, California, and promoters of surely the best automotive show - in Las Vegas each November.
