The final NASA Southeast regional race weekend hosts "Santa's Toy Run", a Toy Drive and Road Race, benefitting local children in need. Ron Rigdon is a local NASA racer and organizer of the charity which provides toys and support for numerous local childrens charities around Braselton, Georgia's Road Atlanta. Ron has worked tirelessly to qualify charities ensuring that support goes to those in absolute need such as the Gwinnett PADV (Domestic Violence Shelter), Gwinnett Children Shelter, Kennesaw PD Outreach, Barrow P.A.L., Haven House, Speedway Children’s Charities, Rising Sun Youth Group, Kid-Stuff, A Friends House, VFW National Home for Children plus many more.
The best parts of “Santa’s Toy Run” are the recipients, kids of all ages. The race weekend invites the children from the charities to tour the pits, meet the teams and take pictures around, and sometimes in, the race cars! We enjoy the charities in teh pits with us but also want to help the tremendous effort. As participants in Santa's Toy Run, GMP Performance is also proud to offer ride-alongs in exchange for a charity donation. The ride alongs provide an opportunity to ride with us during a full-speed HPDE 3/4 (Advanced) sessions in exchange for a donation to one of the Toy Run's approved charities. There are limited number of ride-alongs available each day so they are sold at a first come, first serve basis.
In addition, we will also be supporting the event with a toy drive through the month of November leading up to the race weekend. We will have a box for the toys in our showroom and anyone bringing in a $10 toy will receive a $20 credit towards one hour of labor.
All donations and gifts are very much appreciated and truly needed by the recipients. All donations and proceeds will be given directly to the charity of your choice (Checks are to be made payable directly to the charities) ensuring that 100% of the toys and money get straight in the hands of the kids and organizations. Remember, it's not the size of the gift that matters; it's the compassion that comes from giving; especially during the holidays.
We also want to extend an invite to enthusiasts to join us for the race weekend. The directors at NASA-SE have graciously agreed to exchange "Tickets for Toys." Everyone who attends the races and donates a new unwrapped toy or a gift card that has a value of $10 or more will receive an exclusive all access 3 day pass to watch the best sports car racing in the southeast; what a deal! These donations, gift cards & toys will be distributed locally to qualified, well deserving kids, teens, or families in their true time of need.
