VW 2.0T FSI (BYP) motors have a high pressure fuel pump (HPFP, Pictured below) that is driven from the intake camshaft. The cam follower sits on the spring of the pump makes contact with the camshaft. These Followers are often worn out on 2005+ FSI motors and can cause severe engine damage if not replaced on time. We recommend inspecting these every 30k to 40k miles, especially if your car is modded or is being driven aggressively. Pictured follower is an OEM unit with 40k miles from a stock GTI. Notice the wear marks on the top face. We keep these units in stock and encourage checking and replacing it prior to performing upgrades.
