One of our criticisms of the R8’s stock exhaust is that it sounds too ‘dry’. There is minimal resonant sustain within the OE system and we worked tirelessly to create a ‘wetter’, full bodied soundtrack with unrivalled tone throughout the rev range.
We re-wrote the R8 rulebook to achieve this by designing an X-pipe pressure exchanger with a trick up its sleeve – our asymmetric balance pipe. The balance pipe produces the automotive equivalent of a flanger effect for your R8. The signals from each bank are mixed by the X-pipe and played in unison by the tail pipes. The balance pipe then allows a minute (circa > 10 millisecond) displacement of a portion of the audio signal. This creates a variable time-delayed copy of the X-Pipe exhaust note; resulting in a thick, ‘doubled up’ soundtrack with greatly accentuated peaks and troughs.
The X-Pipe + Balance pipe combination creates a rich symphonic soundtrack with punchy lows, thick mid-range resonance, and crisp highs with pops, bangs and crackles reminiscent of a firework display. And don’t just take my word for it! Our development car was borrowed by Sounding Sweet – the recording specialists who provide the automotive soundtracks to all your favourite video games and movies. They described the QuickSilver R8 as “The best sounding car we’ve ever recorded” – and their roster is extensive

SOUND ARCHITECT
Without Valve Kit - Retains OEM (in-car) functionality
Our active valve sport exhaust systems contain two separate gas paths, and an electronic or pneumatic flap-valve that decides which path is taken. Both have two distinct levels of sound and are slightly louder than stock. With the valves closed, the system takes on a more civilised note and when they’re open, you’re given a sporty note throughout the rev range.
These valves are integrated into the car’s existing controls and function depending on the ECU mapping. This can then be further manipulated either with the dedicated exhaust button or by switching the driving modes.
With Valve Kit - Key Fob functionality
Our pneumatic valve kit includes the installation wiring, replacement tubing and 2 key fobs. The fobs allow you to open and close the valves at will when the car’s ignition is on

Origins & Experience - Since 1973
QuickSilver was founded in 1973, originally in Esher, Surrey. At this time the average life expectancy of an original equipment exhaust system was only 18 months > There was a demand for something better!
QuickSilver settled down in Battersea, central London from 1985 to 2003.
In 2004 QuickSilver's marketing and distribution moved to new purpose -built premises in Wormley, Surrey, to focus on the creation of a modern QuickSilver range of systems for the world's finest cars.
Systems - Manufactured in Great Britain - Exhausts are Custom Order and can take 4-6 weeks for production. Please contact GMP for details.
QuickSilver's range breaks down into three main categories;
Sports: The most popular range of systems catering for modern cars enhancing their sound and overall performance. QuickSilver offer a choice of sound for many vehicle models to allow the enthusiast driver to personalise the experience.
Heritage Collection: A 3000 plus catalogue of systems dating back to 1902, supplying Stainless Steel systems that match the original. For over 35 years QuickSilver have produced and stocked systems for the likes of MGB, Jaguar XK120, Alfa Giulia, Aston Martin, Ferrari – all the popular Classics and this is still a very important part of QuickSilvers's business.
Titan Collection: A bespoke service where QuickSilver strive to engineer the ultimate Exhaust systems. The exhausts included within the 'Titan Collection' are systems that have all the advantages of the 'Sports' range but QuickSilver have examined ways to reduce weight to a minimum by using alternative materials such as thin gauge stainless steel (.9mm), Titanium or Inconel in .7 or .9mm thickness. Some systems combine these materials to achieve the correct balance of strength, lightness and durability.
Global Identity
QuickSilver distribute through a worldwide network of dealers who enjoy a wealth of marketing material and joint promotion via shared advertising and QuickSilver's participation in local events. This is backed by QuickSilver's sponsorship of individual competitors from national rallying to international endurance racing.
